About the Department:

The Department of Mathematics is one of the founding departments of Osmania University,recognized for its high level academic and research activities worldwide. Specializing in Mathematics,Applied Mathematics, Mathematics with Computer Science, and Computer Science,the Department offers M.Sc. and Ph.D.programs in various fields of mathematics.

The Department specializes in fields such as Functional analysis, Operator theory, Nonlinear Analysis, Number theory, Cryptography, Computational Fluid Mechanics, Fluid dynamics Elasticity, Differential equations and their applications. It also serves as the headquarters for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Society for Mathematical Sciences (APTSMS), formerly known as Andhra Pradesh Society for Mathematical Sciences (APSMS), since its inception in1986.The faculty members of this department have received project funding under PURSE and RUSA-2.0 programs. Additionally, the Department attracts the foreign students to its M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs.The department also actively conducts International, National conferences, seminars and Refresher courses to impart and share the recent mathematical research trends among the present and future mathematicians across the country.
