About the Department:

The Department of Mathematics was one of the earliest to be initiated in the University in 1918. The Department specialises in the fields of Number Theory, Finite Geometrics, Operator Theory, Fluid Dynamics, Elasticity, Dirrerential equations and their applications. In recognition of its teaching and research acheivements the UGC has awarded Department Research Support (DRS) Phase II for the period 2000-2005, COSIST programme for the period 2002-2007 and DRS Phase III for the period of 2007-2012. Further, department of Mathematics is head quarters for Andhra Pradesh Society for Mathematical Sciences (APSMS) since its insception 1986.
