Criterion I : Curricular Aspects

Criterion –II Teaching –Learning and Evaluation

15. Sabbatical leave It needs to be asked why teachers are not taking up sabbatical leave
16. Staff Position Creates a damaging ‘generation gap’. Many departments have too may contract/part-time teachers. Still most departments it is satisfactory. Staffing pattern needs to be rationalized as some new departments have fewer permanent and more non-permanent staff.

ii. Scope exists for increasing spreading over evenly across such departments as Technology, Microbiology, Electronics, Applied geochemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering and Economics

i. Ph.D. thesis evaluation format ensures uniformity in assessment and grading
ii. Research Publication record is less than one year per faculty member
19. Consultancy and Extension There is enough scope for augmenting resources in areas like Biotechnology and management. Involving experts of the PG Departments who can tackle problems in rural areas can widen the scope of extension activity
 
 
 

Criterion III : Infrastructure and Learning Resources

Criterion VI: Healthy Practices

Remarks of Peer Committee
The Committee noted:
i.

Introduction of IT courses through Distance education

ii.

Efforts of the university to promote ‘capacity to learn, by internet accessibility; communication skills through ELTC; Numerical skills through CQM; use of IT ; working as a team through group discussions

Conducting classes on Saturdays for making up losses of teaching hours; maintaining of teaching dairies, work plan, preparation of academic calendar with all concerned; attendance monitoring; monthly reviews are noted. Providing autonomy and healthy competition among colleges; national and international linkages, industry interaction etc are noted.

The statement is in somewhat abstract terms.

Special efforts have to be made to translate the Mission Statement in the syllabus and other activities.

The University may prepare an action plan to achieve objectives of the statement of mission.

32. Evaluation standards It is necessary to probe into evaluation standards as all most all students secure I division.
33. Scheme of Instruction There should be flexibility, horizontal mobility and greater freedom to transient departmental barriers and greater co-ordination among departments
34. Monitoring Research across University Evolve suitable mechanism for promoting and coordinating research
35. Internal Quality Assurance Unit To prepare a database and constantly oversee the progress
36. Reorganization of Departments Some departments may be split and few others may be merged
37. Equipment maintenance Sharing of equipment, optimum utilization to be encouraged. Provide budget for equipment maintenance.
38. Student counseling Formal student consultative body comprising of student representatives selected on basis of merit may be constituted.
