  • Make
    Hidex Oy, Finland
  • Model
300 SL Automatic TDCR Liquid Scintillation Counter
  • Specifications
Triathler Multi Purpose Portable α, β and Gamma Counter with luminometer. Triathler accepts any type and Size vial (with sample) to detect radiation or luminescence. LSC System with TDCR technology allows to obtain radiological data of sample vials arranged as a array in a tray without any standard source of radioactivity internally or externally. High rate for counting efficiency for well defined alpha, beta & gamma emitters

Description

Liquid Scintillation Counter is standard laboratory instrument for life sciences, in which radiolabeled sample into uniform distribution with liquid chemical medium capable of converting the kinetic energy of nuclear emissions into light energy. Although it is sophisticated counting system used to quantify the activity of particulate emitting radioactivity samples.

Sample in vials are dissolved in aromatic solvent, emitted radiation interacts with LSC Cocktail (mixture of solvent, solute or sample and flour) and there is an efficient transfer of energy between radiation particles and solution. The energy absorbed by the medium in 3 forms: heat, ionization, excitation. Excited solvent molecules emit UV light to return to ground state. The excited molecules can transfer energy to each other to solute, solute is flour. UV light absorb by flour molecules which emit blue light flashes, total number of photons from excited flour molecules constitutes Scintillation, these blue flashes shine on the 3 – PMTS aligned 1200 to each other detect light in terms of electrical pulse and fed into coincidence circuit produces output if 3signals occur together with in resolving time of circuit. By summing amplitudes of pulses from PMTS output generated, converted into digital value represents particle energy of Beta radiation, passes into the analyzer where it is Compared to digital values for each of the LSC’s channels. Each channel is the address of a memory slot in a multi-channel analyzer which consists of many storage slots or channels concerting the energy range from 0-2000 keV.The number of pulses in each channel is printed out or displayed on a LCD. In this manner, the sample is analyzed and the spectrum can be plotted.

Working Principle

It is used count or detects radiation and luminescence emitted by a sample in vial.

520mm (width), 680mm (height), 630mm (depth) flexible Counting system.

Vials are placed in sample tray with matrix format of 8 by 12 totals 96 7ml vials, alternatively 5x8 matrix totals 40 20ml vials also used.

Instrument connected to PC Mikrowin 2000 software, it has easy to use interface with unlimited number of pre stored isotopes and protocols with other analysis features.

With TDCR technology which is a straight forward method obtaining counting efficiency of samples without any standard source of radioactivity.

Good counting efficiencies, for H-3 >65 %, for C-14 >95%, S-35, for P-32 nearly 100%, P-33, I-125 (beta-emitters).

High Counting efficiency Alpha emitters (Po-210,U-234/U-238,Am-241,Rn-222,Ra-226) > 95%

Detection of beta-emitters on LSC mode up to 2000kev.

Detection of alpha-emitters on LSC mode up to 10,000Kev.

Lead shutter and of 300SL Counter provides optimal shielding from cosmic radiation.

Lead shielding design of system in all directions gives minimum weight of 95 Kg.

Measurement Chamber with high reflective opaque to maximize light collection for PMT.

  • Users should submit the sample in vial weight of
  • Users should mention solubility of the sample in specified column in sample submission form.
  • Users also represent name of the source, if possible type of source on sample vial.
  • Users get spectrum of detected or recorded radiation emitted by the sample.
  • Result spectrum of sample also represents additives or flours added to the solvent of solute.
  • If any researcher wants to pay visit to LSC Lab should take permission from concern authority.
