The
Library has been the major asset. The library collections comprise
of 1, 31,000 books, Apart
from this OUCIP have added several
volumes in
the specifies
areas, 325periodicals,
full texts in print and 941 on CD Roms 6,316 texts on line, and
includes the huge collection of former American Studies Research
Center which was reckoned as the second largest collection of
American Studies outside the US . Apart from this the Centre has the
library of American Civilization on Microfische along with a large
collection of microfilms. The Centre also has an extensive
collection of films including classical and modern prints on video
cassettes and provides a wonderful opportunity for convergence and
connectivity in print and digital media. Apart from spacious
reading areas, Centre also has study carrels for scholars.
Periodicals
Pavilion (Ground & First Floor) has current issues and back files of
all print periodicals to which the Centre subscribes. There is a
card catalogue for periodicals.

Microform
Section There is an excellent but selective collection of microfiche,
microfilm, audio tapes, video tapes and records. Annotated
bibliographies of the videos are also available.
Reference Section
is a goldmine of facts and figures, Biographical information,
Encyclopedia, Atlases, and a variety of reference materials.
Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC) Information about books available at OUCIP can be obtained
by searching the Online Public Access Catalogue terminals placed in
the Reference Room. Users can search by author, title, subject, or
call number. The card catalogue can be searched for books added
before 1st April 1995.
Stacks
Area
Members are invited to browse and select books from the shelves. .
Books are arranged subject-wise in the Stacks Area: Humanities
(800-999); Social Science (300-699); Arts (700); and General
(000-299).
The
Special Collections of rare books, archival materials, Indian Contributions to
American Studies (ICAS), and American Studies in Indian Languages (ASIL),
are housed in the Olive Reddick Room, a room named after Ms Olive
Reddick, who was instrumental in the creation of American Studies
Research Centre.
Carrels are individual study tables assigned to
scholars who make frequent use of the library. Up to 10 books at a
time will be issued for a maximum period of one month to a scholar
for carrel use. If not renewed on due dates , books will be removed
from the carrel. Books urgently needed by other scholars may be
taken off by staff members from the carrel without prior
notification to the concerned scholar who would be informed about
this at the earliest

Photocopying
Facility for photocopying is available on the ground floor.
Literature
Search and printout
Bibliographic searches for a list of books or journals articles from
the OUCIP collection are made on individual request. Print outs from
the computerized library catalog and CD-ROM database such as
Proquest, Dissertations Abstracts International, Social Science
Index, MLA International Bibliography, are made available to members
at a cost.
Working hours: The Library is open from 9:15 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
on all days except Sundays and other declared holidays by
Governments of India and of Andhra Pradesh. Circulation desk services between 9:30 A.M and 4:45 P.M.
