About the Department:

The Department of Physical Education was started right from the inception of the University College of Science. The Department is committed to strengthen the interested students in their chosen sports activities. It also organizes the games and sports competitions throughout the year and gives intensive training and coaching to the students who have talent to participate at Inter and Inter-varrity tournaments.

The enthused and relatively high ranking sportspersons have an opportunity to induct into the University teams. Any student of this College can automatically avail the facilities for various sports and games activities under the control of the University Physical Education Department. Apart from the regular facilities the students can really enjoy the University Swimming Pool which is considered as one of the best pools in the twin cities. The girl students may also utilize the swimming pool facility at exclusive specified timings.

The UCS has a games and sports wing managed by an Associate Professor in Physical Education, assisted by a Games Boy. The College has facilities for playing Indoor Games and a Students Lounge located in the premises of UCS. Good facilities are available for Volley-ball, Foot-ball,Cricket, Kabaddi, Table-Tennis, Badminton, Basket-ball, Chess and other games. Every year a large number of the college students participate in inter-college competitions conducted by the college, inter-collegiate competitions by the University, and inter-University competitions by a host University. Some of the students have bagged prizes both at state and national level in the past. The College is noted for its organizational abilities and systematic way of conducting sports and games activities
