FACILITIES AVAILABLE

In addition to the laboratory, library, huge e- Library, computer and basic simple instrumental analysis facilities available in the Forensic Science Unit, and other Departments of OU, the collaborating institutions like CFSL, APFSL, IICT, CCMB and CDTS etc. are accessible to the students. The advanced laboratory and instrumentation facilities at the Central Facilities for Research & Development, OU are also available to the researchers and students.


EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

The Osmania University and several Indian and foreign universities offer Ph. D. programmes in Forensic Science and other allied subjects. Students may also be eligible for applying to DFS, DST, UGC, CSIR, and ICMR Research Fellowships for Ph. D. work. The Central Forensic Science Laboratories throughout the country, NIA and NICFS, New Delhi recruit forensic scientists through UPSC / SSC. All the State Forensic Science Laboratories have opportunities for employment. The students can join Central / State Police Organizations through competitive examinations. In the areas of Analytical Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Biotechnology and Cyber forensics the students have good opportunities in the private scientific and industrial sector.


ACHEIVEMENTS

Ten (10) research papers were published and one (1) communicated. The Academic Coordinator gave lectures at NPA, CDTS & NIA, and chaired three Conferences / Seminars at Chennai, Mumbai, Patiala and Mysore. Two (2) students were awarded the prestigious DST - INSPIRE Fellowship in Forensic Science. One of them has joined the Unit as Asst. Professor and the other has joined IICT as J. R. F. Eleven (11) students qualified as JRF and 20 students qualified at NET, in UGC-NET Examinations. Nine (9) students are registered for Ph. D. and are working in the OU Depts. of Chemistry, Biochemistry, Zoology, CPMB, and Microbiology. Three (3) students were selected as JSOs in NIA, 3 students got selected as Scientific Assistants in Pondicherry FSL, one student joined Indian Army as Commissioned Officer, 3 students joined FCI, and one student joined Central bank of India. Two (2) student got Research Assistantship at NICFS, Delhi & Dept of Biochemistry, OU, and one student got a Research Fellowship at Hamdard University, Delhi. Ten (10) students joined multinational software companies. One student went to US to pursue further studies. One student was awarded Ph. D. in Chemistry who proceeded to Abu Dhabi to work in a Drug laboratory. One research student working in BARC has submitted her Ph. D. thesis to Bombay University.
