Research Activities

Development of transgenic varieties of rice and cotton that are resistant to both biotic and abiotic stress tolerance; identification and functional characterization of potent candidate genes/promoters from pigeonpea for abiotic stress tolerance; functional validation of inflorescence and male gametophyte-specific genes/promoters and their deployment in generation of male sterile lines for hybrids in rice; and identification of novel genes involved in different agronomic traits of rice through activation tagging approach; are primary areas of research in our laboratory.
