As
you are aware that the University Grants Commission has been
implementing the scheme of Innovative Programme, which has been
renamed as “Teaching and Research in Interdisciplinary and
Emerging Areas” in the Xth plan period, to support specialized
courses at Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate levels including two
Year PG Diploma and one year Advanced diploma after PG Degree in
interdisciplinary & Emerging Areas and to accommodate
brilliant ideas and innovative proposals to influence teaching,
research, academic excellence. Societal growth and relevant
activities in various disciplines, which meet educational,
national and global priorities.
A number of identified and selected departments in
Universities /Institutes/ colleges have received UGC
assistance under this programme.
The UGC has revised the Xth Plan guidelines for
implementing this programme during the Xth plan period.
The revised guidelines of
Innovative Programmes- Teaching and Research in
Interdisciplinary and Emerging Areas is available on the UGC
Website www.ugc.ac.in You
are, therefore, requested to download these guidelines and
circulate in your university departments and the colleges
affiliated to your University which are eligible to receive UGC
assistance as per rules under the above programme.
Accordingly the UGC invites
fresh proposals, within the ceiling and in the prescribed format
given in the guidelines from the eligible departments of
universities/colleges/ institutes which are fir to receive the
assistance under the 12(B) of the UGC Act towards
the above programme.
It may be noted that the
University and College should evaluate the proposals at its own
level and in case two proposals and one proposal from the
Institute /College may be submitted for consideration of the UGC.
Those
departments of University/Institute /College already assisted
under SAP, COSIST (now ASIST), ASIHSS and Innovative programme
of UGC will not be considered for fresh induction under the
programme.
The proposal related to the
Biotechnology may be sent to the Director, Govt. of India,
Ministry of Science & Technology, Department of
Biotechnology, Bolck-2, 7th floor, CGO Complex, Lodhi
Road, New Delhi – 110 003 with 20 copies of the proposals for
consideration.
The last date of receipt of
the proposal in the UGC office, New Delhi under the above
programme is 16th August 2005. The proposals received after this date and without prescribed
format will not be entertained by the UGC.
Five copies of the proposals
as per guidelines through proper channel for induction under the
above programme may be sent to the Joint Secretary (SAP/ASIST),
University Grants Commission, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, New Delhi
– 110 002 for consideration of the Commission.
