Duration of the Course

The duration of the course is normally three years for full-time research scholars and four years for part-time research scholars from their date of joining the course.  However, such candidates if necessary, shall apply for extension of their tenure at least two months before the expiry of the tenure.

The tenure of a full time/part-time research scholar is extendable by one year with the approval of the concerned Dean.  Any further extension for a maximum period of one year shall have to be approved by the Standing Committee of the Academic Senate.  The registration of a candidate shall automatically stand cancelled after the expiry of the permitted extension period (s).  Failure to apply, at least two months before the expiry of the permitted tenure, will lead to automatic cancellation of Ph.D. registration.

At the end of each quarter, each Ph.D. scholar is required to submit a progress report on his research work to the concerned Dean of the Faculty, duly endorsed by the Supervisor and forwarded by the concerned Head of the Department.  If three consecutive progress reports are not received from the candidate or if they are found to be unsatisfactory, admission of the candidate is liable to be cancelled.  A separate attendance statement of the full-time scholar concerned may be sent periodically to the Dean by the Head of the Department.
