Categories of Research Scholars

Full-time Research Scholars

 

The tenure of a full-time research scholars is normally 3 years.  In exceptional cases, candidates registered under this category with the approval of the Standing Committee, may be permitted to submit their thesis after two years from the date of joining the Ph.D. course.

 

Note: As full-time Research Scholar they shall not accept any employment.

 

An employee who wishes to be admitted as a full-time research scholar has to submit a letter, at the time of registration, from the concerned administrative Head of the Department/Institution to the effect that he/she has been granted leave for the entire duration of the course.

 

Part-time Research Scholar

 

Candidates who are eligible for registration as per regulation 2 above, and are not full-time research scholars will be designated as Part-time Scholars.

 

The tenure of registration for a part-time research scholar is normally 4 years.  However, in exceptional cases with the approval of the Standing Committee, he/she may be permitted to submit his/her thesis at the end of three years from the date of joining the Ph.D. course.
