Pre. Ph.D. Examination

Candidates who are admitted to the Ph.D. course shall appear for and pass a Pre-Ph.D. Examination.  However, those who possess an M.Phil Degree in the subject concerned, or in an allied subject or a Ph.D. degree in an allied subject, will be exempted from this Examination.  Such exemptions will be given by the Dean, on application and on the recommendation of the Research Committee of the Department.

 

The Pre-Ph.D. Examination shall be conducted for admitted candidates after six months and before the completion of one year, from the date of their admission.

 

The medium of examination for the Pre-Ph.D. examination shall be English for all subjects except in language subjects, where the official medium of instruction is other than English.

 

In case a candidate does not pass the Pre-Ph.D. Examination in  the first instance, he/she be given one more chance in the immediate succeeding examination.  If he/she does not pass the two consecutive examination his/her Ph.D. registration shall stand cancelled.
