Faculty of Engineering

 

The faculty has the distinction of being the oldest and the biggest in A. P and was established eleven years after the formation of Osmania University (1929). In the beginning, it offered a degree course in Civil Engineering but today it has five additional departments, those of:

  • Mechanical Engineering

  • Electrical Engineering

  • Electronics and Communication Engineering

  • Computer Science Engineering

  • Bio-Medical Engineering

It also offers M. E. (Regular and Part-Time) and Ph. D. programs. It has well equipped laboratories and workshops and maintains collaborations and rapport with many public and private enterprises. The Department of Electronics was sanctioned the Research and Training Unit for Navigational Electronics, the first of its kind in the country in 1982 for R & D training in the area of Electronics Navigation. The Unit has established a Computer Center, a Microwave / Navigational Laboratory and a Signal Processing Laboratory and has taken project work for Defense Research and Development Laboratory (DRDL), Hyderabad. Apart from short term training course and research, the unit has begun collaboration work with the Air Navigation Group at University of Sydney, Australia.
